How to help

Sponsors generously commit to support a scholar through secondary school and for a further year when they are awaiting college or university placements. This takes four years in the Kenyan system, approximately from age 14 to 18 years. Scholars write regularly to their sponsors and sponsors reply and, over five years, many positive relationships develop. After four years scholars take the Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) and those who qualify by achieving at least an overall C+ with a C- in Maths are supported through university or recognised colleges in Kenya. In addition, in the 5th. year of sponsorship, they undertake a 90 hour computer course, take other appropriate courses and teach as paid assistant teachers in our primary schools until they begin higher education. Over 90% of our scholars qualify on merit for support.

Some sponsors are able and willing to meet the much higher cost of supporting their scholar through the tertiary phase but some cannot meet the whole amount. In order to make up the shortfall and ensure that we can meet our commitment to each young person, we actively fundraise and are grateful for donations which all go towards the educational support of tertiary scholars.
