Our scholars' successes
2010 has seen some outstanding results achieved by our scholars and, after 10 years, the charity is able to see that the work being done in Kenya, supported by our many sponsors and donors, is really beginning to change the future lives of many young people and their families.
In March the Kenyan Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results were published and now, with the Government publishing its benchmark to qualify for entrance to public universities, no fewer than NINE of our scholars, seven boys and two girls, have qualified. An amazing result!
During the year too our tertiary scholars have been completing their courses successfully:
Samuel Kariuki graduated with a BSc Honours degree in Engineering (2:2)
Joseph Githingi graduated with a BSc Honours degree in Bio-Engineering (2:1)
Several scholars have qualified as Certified Public Accountants. Dorcas Wanjiru is working in the Accounts Department of a large firm in Nairobi, Julius Kinyua* is an accountant with an insurance company and Samuel Irungu and Michael Kariuki are also both working for firms in Nairobi.
Johnny Mungai is working in the HR Department of a large Kenyan Bank.
Anthony Muchiri* qualified as a Kenya Registered Nurse with a Distinction.
Moses Maina qualified as an Associate of the Kenya Institute of Banking.
Joram Njihia has passed his Poisons Board exams and is now a qualified pharmacist.
